Corny jokes and collection policies

When is a door not a door?

When is a collection policy not a collection policy?

Corny jokes are deep in my family DNA. If you don’t know the punchline to the door one, it’s at the bottom of this post.   The answer to the collections one is different (not as funny!).

For the small HOAs that we work with--when only a few people are paying in, one or two delinquencies hit hard and fast!  The board of directors will ask us to start the collection process…but although they have the authority to collect assessments, many of them find they don’t actually have the policies they need to do it effectively.

When is a collection policy not a collection policy?

-When you have the authority but not a detailed plan of action.
-When you don’t have specific timelines, procedures, or enforcement.
-When it’s not a formally adopted resolution or rule.

Getting ahead of delinquency is important because it’s takes time to adopt the policies that let you deal with it. By the time it’s done, the HOA’s money may be….out the door.

When is a door not a door? Hint was in the image: When it’s AJAR!!
